As i discussed in my last post a macro lens is a must have lens for wedding photographers because photographing small details like the rings requires a macro lens. Most l series lenses share a number of common characteristics not found in canon s line of lower end lenses. The white squares are only found on ef s lenses. There are two main types of reversing rings available for macro photography.

Some models of l lenses utilize an infrared reflective heat shield coating. The first one is the regular reversing ring which attaches to your camera s lens mount and the second option is the coupler ring which connects to another lens instead of the camera itself. There are some lenses that omit the gold ring like the old 85 1 4d some of the newer 1 8g primes etc that perform better than many gold ring lenses. Only red dots are found on ef lenses. I use the canon 100mm f 2 8 which is the perfect lens for me when i need to shoot the details of small objects like the rings.

The most important necessity is a macro lens. Canon l series lenses have a red ring around the lens barrel and the letter l. Which type of reversing ring is for you. But you do not have the compression you need for.

As to be expected from an l series optic bearing canon s famous red ring around the barrel the lens is fully weather sealed and features a focus distance window behind its large manual focus ring. Discover the best. Just because the canon ef 85mm f 1 8 usm doesn t have that elusive red ring of the l series canon lenses doesn t mean it can t trade punches with the big boys. They re made to resist weather dust and water making them compatible with outdoor photography.
